Common European Adder
Habitat and Mode of Life
The common (European) adder is extremely wide-spread across the globe. The common adder owes its German name “Kreuzotter” (“cross adder”) to the broad zigzagged band on its back, or so-called “cross” in German. The Latin genus vipera, an abbreviation of vivipara, indicates the mode of reproduction of the live-bearing common adder. The common adder is a venomous snake, which, however, tries to flee when in danger.

Air Traffic
Being able to fly has been a dream of humanity from time immemorial. But it does not even date back a century that people actually started being able to travel through the air. Since the 1960s, the number of flight passengers has been constantly increasing. Thus, the airspace is no longer dominated by birds but by man-made flying objects.
