Reptiles
This DVD offers a clearly structured overview over reptiles with an emphasis on the following aspects: The origin of reptiles is proven by fossil finds from all over the world. The skeletons are proof that reptiles were not confined to life on land but were also adapted to water and the air. The typical common characteristics of reptiles, such as the coat of scales and a poikilothermic body temperature, as well as the extremely different appearances of poisonous snakes and constrictors, turtles, lizards and crocodiles are discussed in detail. The different methods of finding food both as a herbivore or as an ambush predator with the use of poison or with the help of a pit organ are shown. The “invention” of the amnion made the reptiles’ reproduction independent from water and enab- led them to lay their eggs on land.

Learn moreRhineland-Palatinate
The German Federal State of Rhineland-Palatinate lies in the southwest of the Federal Republic of Germany. This DVD begins with an overview over the state with its nine natural regions: Ahr Valley, Eifel, Westerwald, Mosel-Saar, Huns- rück, the Nahe region, Palatinate with the Palatinate Forest, Middle Rhine-Lahn-Taunus and Rhenish Hesse. A detailed chapter on the eventful history of Rhineland-Palatinate makes this DVD suitable for history lessons, too. Here, the period from Roman Times up to the foundation of the federal state of Rhineland-Palatinate is summarised. Thanks to its central location in Western Europe, its proximity to other European countries, 14 public inland ports on the Rhine and the Moselle and an export quota of around 46%, Rhineland-Palatinate is also an attractive business location. At the same time, it is the “wine state” of the Federal Republic, with 65% of the entire German wine-growing area. The capital of Mainz is often referred to as a media city, houses the media companies ZDF and SWR and is an important employer in the country. Due to the modular, modified regional-studies approach, this DVD of- fers the possibility of using both comprehensive and specific teaching strategies and access modes.

Learn moreRoad Safety Education
Road safety education for children is a difficult task for parents, tutors and teachers. Correct behaviour in road traffic is extremely hard to learn for children. They are not aware of the dangers. But how can you raise their awareness without frightening them? How can you encourage their autonomy in road traffic without exposing the children to dangers? The give-way sign “Signo” guides the children through traffic. It describes the correct crossing of a street and shows the dangers of playing next to a street and the right behaviour for passengers in a car. The film also describes the right clothes in the dark, the safe bike and the most important traffic rules. “Signo” asks well-directed questions to actively include the children in what is happening. The accompanying material contains ideas for practical implementation, games, songs, active games and painting sheets on the subjects. Work sheets for primary school are also included. Based on this comprehensive material, the DVD is ideal for projects in kindergartens, after-school care centres and primary schools.
