Opera

As soon as the audience has taken their seats, the conductor enters the orchestra pit. When he lifts the baton, the magic ritual of enchantment through music, play and light in an illusory world, which is to true nonetheless, begins. But what is opera, anyway? Let us dare a look behind the scenes! This film presents the institution and the artistic creation of an opera. The pupils learn about the structure of a traditional opera house. They get to know how an opera production is planned and prepared. They see how many people contribute to an opera production from the planning to the first night. What jobs and what manual skills are behind a production? How do make-up artists and costume designers work? How many rehearsals are required? All these questions and a lot more are answered by the film. And if the pupils do attend an opera performance, they will perhaps think of the many people and skills that were needed to make this evening a success. Together with the extensive accompanying material the didactic DVD is perfectly suited for various uses in the classroom.

Musical Instruments III

Who does not know them - the Orff Instruments? Already at the age of a toddler, you come in contact with them. Rattles and other noisy toys are to be found in almost every nursery and also the glockenspiel is an instrument found frequently there. But where do these Orff instruments come from? And what has given them their names? Carl Orff, the Munich-born musical teacher and composer, greatly influenced the national and international music world with his works. The Orff instruments were named after him and music pedagogy is no longer imaginable without them. But who was Carl Orff? The first part of the film shows Carl Orff's life from childhood until death. Subsequently, Carl Orff's works are covered, with a focus on "Carmina Burana“. The last part provides us with a detailed overview of the Orff instruments. The qualities of the instruments and their sounds are shown as well as the ways they are played. Together with the comprehensive and innovative accompanying material, the film is highly suitable for classroom use.

Musical Instruments

Music is an important element of our environment as well as of human culture. By listening attentively, pupils will obtain a finer perception of their musical environment and its structure, which is to support them in finding out and cultivating their own preferences in music. Part of this is also to be able to appreciate, describe and classify musical instruments. The DVD presents all members of the group of wind in- struments, subdivided into woodwind and brass instruments, describes their sound and how they are played and provides suitable audio samples. This DVD and the didactically arranged accompanying mate- rial are perfectly suited for the classroom both for a focus on single instruments and for an introduction to the topic „Lis- tening to music - Experiencing Musical Instruments“.

What Is the Blues?

„Well, the Blues is what you go through when you wake up in the morning, and when you go to sleep, and you know, the Blues follows you, wherever you go. The Blues ist the truth to me, you know, the Blues is a healer, and whatever you‘re going through, you know, with the Blues, you know, it can satisfy your soul in other words, it can heal you if you’re going through changes, you know, and these days all of us go through changes: children, the young generation, grown-ups, you know, everybody. I think in my opinion, from my experience, have and get the Blues these days.“
