Podcasting

Today, the use of new media has become a matter of course not only in everyday life – schools and teaching, too, benefit from the new technologies and methods, which support active and independent learning. Especially in computer science, ethics and language courses but also in all other subjects, modern media are a valuable pedagogic and didactic asset. This DVD uses the example of podcasts to demonstrate how the possibilities opened up by new media can be applied in the classroom and how the pupils can be taught to handle them in a competent and target-oriented manner. The film is aimed at supporting the use of podcasts at school and encourages making them. This also requires the ability to find information on the Internet and assess it. The Criminal Code says: »Whosoever physically assaults another person is punished.« But the Criminal Code also says: »If the offender in an effort to achieve reconciliation with the victim (Victim-Offender-Mediation) has made full restitution for his offence, the court may mitigate the sentence or, unless the sentence is imprisonment of more than one year, may order a discharge.« The Youth Courts Law says:»The public prosecutor shall dispense with prosecution«, that means he does not bring charges and the matter does not go to court when the youth is ready »to achieve a settlement with the aggrieved person.«

Laut einer hessischen Studie haben über 60 % der 14-18-jährigen Schüler und Schülerinnen durch ihren Partner oder ihre Partnerin mindestens einmal irgendeine Form von grenzüberschreitendem Verhalten oder Gewalt erlitten. Das sind Verhaltensweisen, die Bedürfnisse und Befindlichkeiten der Geschädigten/des Geschädigten ignorieren, über Demütigungen, Beleidigungen und Einschüchterungen sowie psychischen, physischen und sexuellen Misshandlungen bis hin zu Vergewaltigungen und Tötungen. Körperliche Gewalthandlungen wurden seltener berichtet als Kontrollverhalten oder der Druck zu ungewollten Handlungen. Verstärkt sind diejenigen betroffen, die in ihrem familiären Umfeld Gewalt erlebten oder bezeugten.

"I'm watching you" – heutzutage kein Problem mehr. Die rasend schnelle Entwicklung der Technik ermöglicht Überwachung und Spionage zu jeder Zeit und an jedem Ort. Ob mit aufwändigen Mitteln oder im kleinen Rahmen ganz nebenbei – fast überall wird man beobachtet. Jedoch birgt diese transparente Welt jede Menge Gefahren. "Schau dich schlau!" versucht deshalb herauszufinden, wie es möglich ist, seine Spuren im Alltag zu verwischen. Ob Facebook oder Twitter – es wird gepostet, gebloggt, kommentiert und dabei oft viel zu viel preisgegeben. Die "Schau dich schlau!"-Moderatoren Joey Grit Winkler und Fero Andersen werden dieses Mal vor eine besondere Herausforderung gestellt: Sie sollen den genauen Tagesablauf des jeweils anderen an einem ihnen nicht bekannten Tag des Monats wiedergeben. Wer mehr Infos zusammenträgt, gewinnt das Duell. Fero hofft auf nützliche Informationen über das Facebook-Profil seiner Kontrahentin. Des Weiteren engagiert er einen Privatdetektiv und versteckt eine Kamera vor Joeys Wohnung. Dagegen setzt sie bei ihrer Mission auf Handyortung und bringt sich selbst ins Spiel. Mit Hilfe der passenden Verkleidung verfolgt sie Fero auf Schritt und Tritt. In Gesprächen mit seinen Kollegen und Freunden hofft sie auf besondere Informationen zu stoßen, um die Spionage-Challenge für sich zu entscheiden. Außerdem in der Sendung: Ohne Bedenken telefonieren – das dürfte doch wohl möglich sein. Oder stimmt es wirklich, dass unsere Gespräche am Telefon bei Wörtern wie "Drogen" oder "Bombe" abgehört werden? "Schau dich schlau!" tritt an zum großen Test.

Peer Mediation

Lena and Max attend the 7th form. Max is new in class. During a break, Max notices that Lena and her friend are laughing at him again. Max loses his temper! He slaps Lena in the face. That hurts and Lena runs back into the classroom with a red cheek. The growing conflict between the two has escalated. Just like Lena and Max, every day pupils all over Germany have rows with each other. At the Heinrich Hertz Gymnasium in Thuringia, pupils have been trained as mediators for years. At set hours, they are in a room made available by the school specifically for mediation purposes. The film describes the growing conflict between Max and Lena and shows a mediation using their example. In doing so, the terms “conflict” and “peer mediation” are explained in a non-technical way. The aims of peer mediation and its progress in five steps as well as the mediators’ tasks are illustrated. The art of asking questions and “mirroring”, which the mediators must know, is described and explained. Together with the comprehensive accompanying material, the DVD is a suitable medium to introduce peer mediation at your school, too.

For boxing strengthens your self-confidence because it takes courage, time after time, to step into the ring and because you learn how to fight and to defend yourself. From his personal experience of his first five fights he comments on what a great feeling it is to win.
