Magical World of Snow

With descriptive real and trick sequences, the film explains how snow forms and what different kinds of snow crystals there are. The pupils learn about the baby’s stage of development in any month of pregnancy. Then the progression of a birth is described. Eventually the film explains how the new-born baby must be cared for, what it needs and what it cannot do yet. The Egyptian Book of the Dead

The notions described in the texts and pictures of the Book of the Dead are central to the ancient Egyptian belief in an afterlife – the belief in resurrection and life after death. In order to be granted passage to the “Realm of the Blessed”, the deceased first have to justify themselves before the Court of Death and give account that they have led their lives according to the laws of Maat – the order of the universe and justice. The Book of the Dead lists the names of the judges at the Court of Death, who the dead must appeal to and convince of their innocence. Further, it contains a plethora of magical texts for the protection of the deceased and describes the places in the underworld. These texts were inscribed on papyri, coffins and numerous burial objects like canopic jars, uschebtis or mummy masks so that they were available to the deceased at any time. After all, they describe their transformation from mortals to glorified god-like beings who would live eternally.

Dinosaurs lived on our Earth about 160 million years ago. There are several theories as to why they became extinct about 65 million years ago but the fascination with these creatures is still there. We can look at dinosaurs in dinosaur parks. People have reconstructed dinosaurs based on their ideas of what they might have looked like. In an age appropriate way the following questions are addressed in the film: When did dinosaurs live? What did the Earth look like at the time of the dinosaurs? How did dinosaurs live? Were dinosaurs clever? How do we know about dinosaurs? Where did the dinosaurs get their funny names from? Why did the dinosaurs become extinct? A special highlight is the chapter “Dinos Present Themselves“. A selection of dinosaurs, speaking in different voices, convey information on the various species to the children. Together with the extensive accompanying material the DVD is ideally suited for project work in the elementary sector.

Slow Worm

The slow worm is a small, completely harmless lizard, which – contrary to its German name “Blindschleiche”– is perfectly able to see and is often mistaken for a snake because it has no legs and an elongated body. The German name is presumably derived from the Old High German word “Plintslicho”, which means “blinding sneaker”. This probably refers to the pretty, shining skin surface of the slow worm.
