School Caching
A treasure hunt in nature… and with GPS devices! Geocaching has been a real trend with lovers of nature for long and now more and more schools discover that pupils can be encouraged to head out into nature and, moreover, that learning content can be communicated creatively in this way. The pupils get the coordinates for the next station only by solving a maths problem, for example, or the various answer options are linked to coordinates. In addition, geocaching promotes thinking and working in groups and can be used to improve classroom community. In this DVD, a school class demonstrates us a school caching organised by their teachers in the Swabian Alps, the development of an educational cache and how GPS works. With the extensive accompanying material the didactic DVD is ideally suited for use in the classroom.

Schokolade
Schokolade – die süße Versuchung. Kaum einer, der dieser zart schmelzenden Köstlichkeit widerstehen kann. Knapp neun Kilo des leckeren kakaohaltigen Genussmittels gönnte sich der Deutsche 2005 im Durchschnitt. Das liegt nicht nur am guten Geschmack: Schokolade hat auch eine besondere Wirkung auf Körper und Geist. Einige ihrer Inhaltsstoffe sind zum Beispiel gut gegen Bluthochdruck oder Depressionen. "Schau dich schlau!" erklärt, wie Schokolade genau wirkt. Ihren Ursprung hat Schokolade in Südamerika, genossen wurde sie dort als die Sinne erregendes Getränk. Bis zum heutigen Tag werden in Äquatorländern Kakaofrüchte per Hand geerntet, indem sie mit Macheten von den bis zu 15 Meter hohen Bäumen geschlagen werden. Mit den spanischen Eroberern kam der Kakao nach Europa, doch erst im Jahre 1848 gab es Schokolade in Form fester Tafeln. Heute reicht die gute alte Milchschokolade nicht mehr aus – immer ungewöhnlichere Kreationen kommen auf den Markt, darunter gewagte Kombinationen mit Paprika, Sellerie oder sogar Bergkäse. "Schau dich schlau!" zeigt den Weg der Kakaobohne von der Plantage bis in die Schokoladentafel. Außerdem haben sich Joey Grit Winkler und Fero Andersen auf der Internationalen Süßwarenmesse (ISM) in Köln umgeschaut und zeigen die neuesten Trends und die skurrilsten Zutaten!

When we have bought something online, an artificial intelligence could have ensured that we receive the ordered product on time. Because in many large companies machine brains help with logistics, accounting and customer service. Even at the doctor’s or in hospital we may come across artificial intelligence. Because sometimes it assists physicians with the diagnosis of diseases or in selecting an appropriate therapy. An AI can also be helpful in prognosticating the chances of recovery.

American Indians
Who were the first people in America? The native inhabitants of this continent are called Indians, and they are just as diverse as the peoples in Europe. North America is divided into Nine Native American Culture Regions and the film goes into detail about the Indians of the north-eastern and south-eastern Woodlands, the Indians of the Southwest and the Plains Indians. Adapted to the landscape and climate, different forms of culture evolved – from simple Stone Age humans and nomadic life styles to advanced cultures with cities and sophisticated societies. Thus, the Indians of the north-eastern woodlands already lived in a democratic society, which became the basis for the American Constitution. European colonisation reduced the number of Native Americans by diseases, wars and displacement. The film concludes with an outlook on Indian life in the United States today.
