Magical World of Snow
With descriptive real and trick sequences, the film explains how snow forms and what different kinds of snow crystals there are. We observe a snow researcher at work and watch growing snow crystals under a microscope in spectacular close-ups. The film also answers the questions why snow looks white to us or crunches; it shows sledge dogs in action and explains ingenious survival strategies of animals in winter. Sheep
The sheep, one of the oldest livestock animals of mankind, has not only supplied us with wool, meat, pelts and milk but has also helped us conserve our landscape. There are between 500 and 600 different varieties. In Germany alone, there are more than 40 breeds. Because of marketing interests sheep were specifically bred for their wool, their meat, their milk and their pelts. Sheep farming, which is very time-consuming, involves shepherding, rearing and processing of wool, meat, milk and pelts. In order to be able to live on sheep farming various products must be marketed. Sheep help to preserve landscapes and provide flood control. Examples thereof are the Heidschnucke, which preserve the heath, and the dike sheep that help consolidate the dikes. Together with the extensive additional material the DVD is ideally suited for use in the classroom.

Artificial intelligence is pure software which, combined with various sensors, takes further decisions from the data thus obtained. Artificial intelligences have already conquered our everyday lives. When we have bought something online, an artificial intelligence could have ensured that we receive the ordered product on time. Because in many large companies machine brains help with logistics, accounting and customer service. Even at the doctor’s or in hospital we may come across artificial intelligence. Because sometimes it assists physicians with the diagnosis of diseases or in selecting an appropriate therapy. An AI can also be helpful in prognosticating the chances of recovery.
